Serve on the AG Bell Board

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) Board of Directors is currently seeking candidates who areinterested in serving on the board. Candidates who submit their completed nomination materials will be placed on the ballot for the AG Bell membership to vote upon. The role of the board is to establish the strategic direction of the organization, identify funding sources and monitor the finances of the organization, and establish policies that support the long-term vision of the organization.

Board member terms are three (3) years in length and will run from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2016.  Potential candidates should be prepared to commit to:

  • Keep the goals of the organization in focus with the mission of the organization
  • Support the organization with a personal contribution
  • Come to meetings well-informed about issues on the agenda
  • Attend three (3)  in-person board meetings per year (travel reimbursement of up to $500 per member, per meeting)
  • Participate in additional board meetings via conference call as needed
  • Serve on at least one (1) standing committee
  • Assume leadership roles when asked

 The Board is looking for individuals from diverse backgrounds with one or more of these experience sets:

  • Professional experience in the financial arena ( i.e., accounting or investments)
  • Professional or lead volunteer experience in fundraising
  • Professional experience in the legal field
  • Professional experience in the area of real estate and/or property management
  • Parents of children who are deaf and hard of hearing
