Through advocacy, education, research and financial aid, AG Bell helps to ensure that every child and adult with hearing loss has the opportunity to listen, talk and thrive in mainstream society. Arts & Sciences Award Program
The Arts and Sciences Award Program is available to students with a pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range who are in grades one through twelve to participate in after‐school, weekend or summer programs focused on developing skills in the arts or sciences. Programs may be sponsored by museums, nature centers, art or music centers, zoological parks, space and science camps, dance and martial arts programs, theater workshops or other programs with a focus on an art or science. Awards may not be used for programs that offer academic credit, travel or study abroad, recreational summer camps, sports or sports camps, including figure skating and gymnastics. This program usually opens in February with a deadline in April. Program details and an application packet are available when the program is open.
The School‐Age Financial Aid program is for students with a pre‐lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range who use listening and spoken language and who are in first through twelfth grades and attending a parochial, independent or private mainstream school. Awards are intended to assist with educational costs such as tuition, books, equipment, room and board, auditory and speech language support services, academic tutoring, transportation, and other school‐related expenses. Please Note: Public school, oral school, OPTION school, home school & post‐secondary students are not eligible for this program. This program usually opens in April with a deadline in late May. The Preschool‐Age Financial Aid program is for families of preschool-age children who have been diagnosed with a moderately-severe to profound bilateral hearing loss and who are in pursuit of a listening and spoken language education for their child. Awards are made to assist with expenses such as auditory support services, speech‐language therapy, pre‐school tuition, etc. Families who apply should be committed to a listening and spoken language approach for the education of their child’s listening, speech, and cognitive skills. This program usually opens in June with a deadline in August. Program details and an application packet are available when the program is open.
The Parent‐Infant Financial Aid Program is for families of infants and toddlers ages 0 to 3 who have been diagnosed with a moderately-severe to profound bilateral hearing loss and who are in pursuit of spoken language education for their child. Awards are made to assist with expenses such as auditory support services, speech‐language therapy, tuition, etc. Families should be committed to a listening and spoken language approach for the education of their child’s listening, speech, and cognitive skills.This program usually opens in August with a deadline in early October. AG Bell’s Financial Aid Programs – From a Parent’s Perspective
I just wanted to thank you for blessing my family with financial aid on behalf of both our daughter and son. Our son received a very generous amount of money for the Preschool Financial Aid Award, and our daughter received an even more generous amount for the Parent‐Infant Financial Aid Award. Having two children with bi‐lateral cochlear implants puts a huge financial burden on our family. If it were not for the generosity of people like you all, we would not have the ability to provide our children with the best technology out there for an oral language program.
Both kids have shown remarkable growth since receiving their implants. Our daughter received both implants just a few months ago and is already saying five or six 6 words consistently and understands so much more! Our son recently got his second implant and continues to come home with new words and phrases every day! The other day, we took him for his first swim lesson and the teacher actually told me she was “impressed with his language skills.” I was in shock—that was one phrase I never expected to hear about our son. His progress truly has been amazing!
